History – Neurosurgery

This type of surgery has been around for more than thousand years. But, the advancement in neurosurgery has happened only since the last century. It is said that The Incas Empire practiced a procedure known as trepanation in the late stone age. During the middle ages, that is from the year 936  to  1013 AD, a person named Al-zahrawi performed the surgical procedures and treatments for all problems related to the head. Like,

5)Surgery based upon the spinal cord

6)Surgery in the peripheral nerve

This is used to decrease the pain and improve the function of the peripheral nerve.

7)Pediatric neurosurgery

They help, diagnose, and treat the problems of children.

Recovery after the surgery

One will probably be very tired for more than a week after the surgery. One might have headaches and other problems related to concentration and focusing. It can take up to 8 weeks to properly recover from the surgery. Healing requires extra testing and patience. Recovery is a real slow process but it’s for good. Keep in check with the doctors after the surgery. Medications should be properly taken to recover efficiently. Recovery can be early and later depending upon the person. Neurosurgery is a lot for the body to handle and it will have some effects on your body while going through the process of recovery.
