During the middle ages, that is from the year 936  to  1013 AD, a person named Al-zahrawi performed the surgical procedures and treatments for all problems related to the head. Like,

•Skull injuries

•Spinal injuries

•Sometimes, even headaches.

Advancement was not seen until the late 19 century. Later, modern tools and equipment for the performance of the surgery were invented.  Now a lot of top neurosurgery hospitals in Bangalore have advanced tools like, robots, suction tubes, chisels, and different types of them, distractors, dissectors, curettes, hooks, forceps, impactors, probes, other power tools that help in the betterment of the surgery.

There are 7 main divisions of neurosurgery.

1)Oncological neurosurgery

This is a study of the brain and the spinal cord neoplasms, that is used to treat crucial head injuries.

2)Vascular neurosurgery

This helps in the treatment of the injuries that are connected to hemorrhages or strokes in the brain or the spinal cord. This is also a complicated surgery.

3)Stereotactic neurosurgery

This utilizes the three-dimensional coordinate system and locates the mini targets in the body and lets them perform actions on them.

4)Surgery based on the skull

This can be done in two methods,

•endoscopic method

•open method

5)Surgery based upon the spinal cord

This type of surgery is performed when there is a narrowing of the spinal canal and it results in numbness, pain, or weakness.

6)Surgery in the peripheral nerve

This is used to decrease the pain and improve the function of the peripheral nerve.

7)Pediatric neurosurgery

They help, diagnose, and treat the problems of children.
